Sight Training or Eye Strain?

cucumber-eyes.jpgHot on the heels of Brain Training, Nintendo DS bring us Sight Training.  Now, I haven’t tried it myself, but the concept seems flawed to me.  As with Brain Training, the first task is to check your Eye Age.  The idea is that you then train your eyes every day through a series of challenges to lower your eye age.  The challenges test your hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision and eye movement, amongst others. Apparently, you can achieve good results from just 15 minutes training a day.  It might just be me, but if I’ve been working on my PC for large chunks on the day, my eyes normally feel tired.  Well, train them I hear you cry and then this won’t be the case.  And there lies my problem.  The last thing I can see improving my eyesight is squinting at a little screen watching graphics move around for 15 minutes a day!  So, while I can see the benefits of Brain Training and I wouldn’t dismiss Sight Training for the fun factor of the challenges, if my eyes are feeling in need of some TLC to slow the ageing process, I think I’ll just stick to my slices of cucumber!
