How Far would you go for a Game?

game-vest.gifPlaystation, X Box, Wii - home gaming is big business and it is getting more and more interactive with every new games console designed. With the Wii you don’t simply sit console in hand, pressing buttons and firing shots, you actually get up, get down and simulate the action whether that be in a bowling game or a boxing match. But are things going a little far when you can actually experience every explosion and feel every punch? That’s the idea behind the 3rd Space Gaming Vest.

Video game characters inhabit a three dimensional world, but until now, we’ve only been able to experience two dimensions. The 3rd Space Gaming Vest is set to change all that and will redefine the concept of interactive gaming. By strapping this vest to your torso while you play your favourite game, you’ll be able to suffer as you on screen character suffers (but surely games are supposed to be fun, not painful!) It works by using an air source to fire eight pneumatic cells embedded in the vest.

In addition to the sensation of being shot or stabbed, its makers, TN Games, claim the vest is even able to recreate explosions or a fear-inducing tap on the shoulder. Whatever will they think of next? For those of you who think vests are for wimps, this may be the vest to change your mind! On sale in the US later this month, it is expected to be more widely available soon. The question is are you brave enough to try it for size?
